Flight Plan
A document filed with air traffic control (ATC) or a flight service station that describes the details of an intended flight, including route, altitude, airspeed, fuel on board, and estimated times. VFR flight plans are optional but recommended because they activate search-and-rescue services if you fail to close the plan after arrival. IFR flight plans are mandatory.
